Michelin-Rated Ramen Shop in Houston’s Chinatown Expands Menu: Mensho Ramen

Few places generate as much excitement as Mensho, and for good reason. This Michelin-guide ramen shop has earned a dedicated following with its rich, carefully crafted broths and premium ingredients. Every visit feels like an experience, and just when we thought they couldn’t top themselves, they roll out new menu items that continue to push the boundaries of flavor!

Mensho has always been about precision, intention, and quality–from its Japanese premium seaweed to minimizing food waste and its NASA-inspired Apollo ramen paying tribute to Texas. The new additions stay true to that standard, offering a mix of bold, comforting, and unexpected flavors. The Spicy Lamb Cumin Miso Ramen instantly stood out, combining grilled ground lamb with deep, spicy miso richness– it was a table favorite. For those looking for something lighter, the Vegan Yuzu Shio and Vegan Spicy Yuzu use a delicate blend of shiitake, kombu, porcini, and vegetables, proving that plant-based ramen can be just as satisfying.

The sushi lineup is just as impressive! The Uni-ku Nigiri Sushi layers A5 wagyu with Hokkaido uni, creating an ultra-luxurious bite, while the Uni-ku & Ikura Nigiri Sushi adds salmon roe for an extra pop of umami. The A5 Wagyu Gunkan Sushi, topped with garlic chips and green onion, is another must-try. If hand rolls are more your style, the Uni-ku Temaki Roll and Ikura Temaki Roll both deliver a perfect balance of richness and freshness, wrapped in crisp nori. And as always, each roll and nigiri is served with genuine wasabi!

For dessert, the Matcha Latte Pudding with Red Bean strikes that ideal balance of creamy, earthy, and just lightly sweet—an excellent way to end the meal. And while it’s not a new addition, we can’t leave out the Wagyu Texas BBQ Tantanmen—a smoky, spicy, and deeply satisfying bowl that’s become a fan favorite for a reason.

On top of all this, we’ve heard Mensho is opening for lunch soon, which means more hours to get your ramen fix! If these new dishes are any indication, the hype isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
