We recently made our way to Moody Gardens’ Holiday in the Gardens, and it’s like stepping into a winter wonderland right here in Texas! Between the frosty exhibits, twinkling lights, and endless holiday cheer, this staple seasonal event has everything you need to feel the magic of the holidays. Come to admire the beauty and enjoy festive family fun!

Moody’s Ice Land: Around the World was incredible! This frosty exhibit takes you on an arctic journey through breathtaking ice sculptures crafted from over two million pounds of ice. Moody flies in master ice carvers from China, so you’re in for a real treat! Picture yourself wandering among penguins, polar bears, and even majestic whales—all carved with stunning detail. Feeling adventurous? The giant ice slide is a must-try, and trust us, it’s as thrilling as it sounds. At the end of the exhibit, you can also head over to Shivers Ice Bar, where you can sip on holiday spirits while perched on an ice stool! Just be warned, the temperatures drop to about 9 degrees, so be sure to bundle up! Parkas are provided, but we recommend a beanie and gloves to stay as warm as possible while you walk through.

The Festival of Lights is pure enchantment. Stretching over a mile, this trail of dazzling lights transforms the gardens into a glowing spectacle. From whimsical displays to a magical waterfront finale, it’s hard not to feel the holiday spirit as you stroll through. And it’s not just lights—there’s also ice skating, train rides, and cozy s’mores by the fire to round out the experience. Snap your pics or simply soak in the festive vibes– it’s impossible not to smile here!

Moody Gardens’ Holiday in the Gardens is the ultimate holiday escape for families, couples, or anyone looking to celebrate the season. We recommend booking a room at the hotel and making a dinner reservation at Shearn’s on the 9th floor of the hotel to make it a complete getaway trip. Between the icy artistry of Ice Land and the cozy charm of the Festival of Lights, there’s no shortage of holiday magic!
