After loving the brunch at Fielding’s River Oaks, stopping by Fielding’s Wood Grill during Happy Hour was our perfect excuse to see how their signature style translates to a more laid-back setting. All of Fieldings’ concepts are known for all-natural, locally sourced, and hormone-free ingredients, and their grill is no exception. This casual, yet elevated restaurant delivers big on flavor with a focus on wood-grilled goodness.
Happy hour was in full swing when we arrived, so naturally, we started with a few cocktails and bites from the happy hour menu. They had a full-sized bar and an impressive drink menu despite being a casual concept. The Yama Still Old-Fashioned came with Madagascar vanilla and dried cherry twist. Fielding’s knows their cocktails, and so far, 2 of 2 locations have us impressed. The Thai Bacon Bites had an incredible umami-packed, savory glaze, and the Cheese and Crackers, served with rich pimento cheese, paired perfectly with our drinks.
Of course, we couldn’t stop at just happy hour. The dinner menu was calling, and we went all in with the Kung Pao Brussels sprouts, Baked Chicken and Spinach Dip, a Rotisserie Cobb Salad, and a couple of burgers. Anything cooked on their wood grill has that deep, smoky flavor that just elevates every bite. The Ribeye was a standout, perfectly cooked and served with a tangy, herbaceous chimichurri that we couldn’t help but dunk every bite in.
Fielding’s Wood Grill manages to strike that perfect balance between casual and refined. The quality is there in every dish, and the warm, homey atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and enjoy. The happy hour deals are solid, the cocktails are crafted with care, and anything coming off that wood grill is bound to be a hit.
