Houston’s food scene is full of incredible fusion spots, but Michy’s brings something truly special to the table. This family-owned Chino Boricua restaurant offers bold flavors of Puerto Rican-style Chinese cuisine, serving up generous portions of food made from scratch daily. Since opening in 2021, Michy’s has built a loyal following and we are not excluded! The dishes are packed with flavor, the portions are more than generous, and the story behind the restaurant makes every bite even more meaningful.

The history behind Michy’s is just as rich as its menu. The family’s journey started in Puerto Rico, where they opened their first restaurant after moving from China. Over two decades, they mastered the fusion of these two cuisines, bringing their signature flavors to Houston for a whole new audience to enjoy!

On our most recent visit, we went all in on the classics. The Fried Chicken was crispy and perfectly moist, the Boneless BBQ Ribs (Char Siu) had that signature sweetness, and the Garlic Shrimp with Mofongo delivered on both texture and flavor! Their Carne Frita is a must-try, and the garlicky Tostones are the kind of side that you’ll want to order extra of.

The fusion doesn’t stop at their main dishes, though—Michy’s recently started serving sushi, and their unique twists make it unlike anything else in town! The San Juan Roll is topped with sweet plantains, while the 787 Roll features tender churrasco steak. It’s a mix of flavors that just works, and we can’t wait to go back and try more.

In case you didn’t already know, Michy’s recently expanded to Katy with a second location, offering even more space to enjoy their comforting, home-cooked dishes. We’re so happy to see this local business thrive and expand!
